Always a Great Time
to be a Panther!
2020-21 Gap Campaign
100% participation to reach our $100,000 goal.
Every gift counts!
What a year it has been! Even though everything is in the shadow of the pandemic, we have had some important things to celebrate because even in 2020, it’s STILL A GREAT TIME TO BE A PANTHER!
The most significant is our recognition as a 2020 National Blue Ribbon Exemplary High Performing School by the U. S. Department of Education. We are the first nonpublic school in Arkansas to be a repeat winner of this award. St. Joseph has also welcomed 90 new students from 50 new families and matched its highest enrollment of the past 15 years. That is an amazing achievement that takes an amazing community of people to accomplish! Our boys Cross Country team won the Heartland Christian Athletic Association Championship which included 27 schools from four states. With all of the challenges we have all faced in 2020, that is a great start to a great school year!
Of course, the story of 2020 will forever be the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that the life of every St. Joseph family has been impacted in ways they would never have imagined. While teaching with a mask and plexiglass desk dividers are not the way we would choose to teach, and learning from home via webcam is not the way we would choose to learn, this has been a great opportunity for growth in education. Every teacher will be a better teacher after the pandemic than before. You would be hard-pressed to find a teacher now who does not know how to effectively teach with Google Classroom or Zoom or any of the other countless new resources that teachers have. Our students have also become experts at these tools. These skills will remain just as relevant after the pandemic, and it will make the St. Joseph education even stronger.
Of course, these things come with a cost. Zoom licenses for the school were $1,900 for the year. We spent $8,500 on classroom air purifiers which will need regular filter replacement. We recently purchased ten upgraded Promethean interactive boards to enhance the experience of students both in-person and those learning from home. These are some of the many costs that we would not have envisioned a year ago but are now commonplace. This is compounded by the uncertainly around our other major fundraisers. Men’s Night has already been cancelled, and we are holding onto hope that we can still host Panther Gala in the Spring. While we thankfully received some grants for the year, the changes will keep coming and St. Joseph must continue to keep pace.
We believe that every member of the St. Joseph community can make a meaningful contribution to this year’s GAP CAMPAIGN. Last year’s donations ranged from $5-$15,000. If you have been heavily impacted by the pandemic, we know that you may need to make a lower gift than in years past or maybe not give at all. If your situation has remained strong, we hope you ask, “What can I do to help the school and those struggling right now?” Our budget includes a GAP CAMPAIGN goal of $85,000, but for the past two years we have been above $100,000. Can you help us do that again?
We hope that the school has proven itself worthy of your support throughout this school year. Through the cooperation of us all, our school can not only survive during this challenging time, but thrive. It is ALWAYS A GREAT TIME TO BE A PANTHER!

GAP CAMPAIGN FAQ
What is purpose of this campaign?
The purpose of the Gap Campaign is to help bridge the gap between the actual cost of educating our students and the income we receive from tuition. Tuition covers only 66% of the total costs at St. Joseph Catholic School. Through the Gap Campaign, families can make a tax-deductible donation and help St. Joseph raise the additional operating funds necessary to meet the needs of our students.
When and how will gifts be used?
The Gap Campaign supports the current fiscal year's operating budget and provides the essentials that make St. Joseph an extraordinary school. When you give, you can be sure your gift is helping the school right now!
What’s the difference between this and other fundraisers?
The most significant difference is the return for your dollar. Gap Campaign expenses are minimal (printing costs, postage, and credit card fees), and are fully covered by seed gifts before you receive this mailing. Because there is such little overhead, no other fundraiser can have as meaningful of an impact on the students as direct giving.
How important is my participation?
Everyone is needed and every gift is important. The success of St. Joseph School is a testament to the support of every family who walks through our doors. 100% of the faculty and school board have already contributed to the Annual Fund. Our goal for school families is also 100% participation. Support of the parishioners and other friends of St. Joseph is invaluable as well. Whether you can give $10 or $10,000, your gift will make an impact on the lives of our students.
How can I give?
In whatever way is the most beneficial to you! The most common way is a check mailed to the school or giving online. We can also accept donations by Venmo. (Our username is sjfayschool) However, many people are able to give through donating stock, corporate matching, or other means. Some families choose to add to their existing tuition draft. If you would like to give through means not listed on this card, please call the office at 479-442-4554.
